A Full Set of Teeth on a Few Implants
If you have lost all or most of your teeth, or you are worn out by dentures that never seem to fit, there is a solution that stays put. Implant-supported restorations give you a permanent, beautiful smile anchored right in your mouth. Dr. Raffi offers full-arch implant bridges and implant-supported overdentures at Dr. Raffi General & Implant Dentistry that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Enjoy most of the foods you love, speak with confidence, and smile without a second thought.
- What it is
- A handful of strategically placed dental implants support an entire set of replacement teeth. Depending on your case, those teeth come as a fixed bridge permanently attached to the implants, or as a removable overdenture that snaps securely into place.
- Who it's for
- It suits anyone who has lost all or most of their teeth, whose remaining teeth are failing, or who has simply had enough of loose, uncomfortable dentures and wants a stable, permanent alternative.
- How we help
- Because every patient's needs and jawbone are different, we start with advanced CT imaging to place each implant precisely, design the restorations to fit you, and tailor the plan to your mouth.
All-On-X Full-Arch Bridge
A complete set of teeth is permanently attached to 4–6 dental implants per arch. It stays in your mouth at all times, with no removing, no adhesives, and no slipping, and it is designed to match ideal tooth shape, size, and color. You can bite and chew most of the foods you love with strong chewing power, and the implant posts preserve the jawbone by stimulating it. We call it All-On-X because your jaw sets the number of implants. Depending on the technique, it is also called "teeth in a day."
Implant-Supported Overdenture
A full denture snaps securely onto dental implants: Dr. Raffi attaches a supporting structure to the implants so your overdenture clicks into place, and you remove it at home for cleaning. It is far more stable than a traditional denture, with no slipping, rocking, or adhesives, and a cost-effective alternative to a full-arch fixed bridge.
Implants vs. Traditional Dentures
A traditional denture rests on the gums. Implant-supported teeth replace the roots as well, and that changes how they sit, how you chew, and what happens to the bone over time.
| Compared on | Implant-Supported Teeth | Traditional Dentures |
|---|---|---|
| Support | Anchored to implants in the jawbone | Rest on the gums, often with sticky adhesives |
| Stability & comfort | Far more stable than a traditional denture, with no slipping or adhesives | Can loosen over time as the jawbone changes |
| Jawbone | Stimulated by the implants, which helps prevent deterioration | Resorbs and shrinks without tooth roots |
| Eating & taste | Bite and chew normally; a fixed bridge leaves the roof of your mouth uncovered | Reduce chewing ability, and many wearers report trouble tasting food |
| Upkeep | A fixed bridge needs no adhesives or frequent adjustments; an overdenture comes out for cleaning | Constant adjustment and, eventually, replacement |
| Appearance | Helps hold up your facial structure | Bone loss can lead to a collapsed, aged look |
For a removable option, the implant-supported overdenture snaps onto the implants for stability and comes out at home for cleaning. By replacing the root as well as the crown, either option addresses the problems that come with traditional dentures.
Full Mouth Restoration, Step by Step
- Comprehensive evaluationDr. Raffi examines your mouth and jawbone using digital X-rays and CT scans.
- Custom treatment planYour plan is based on your bone density, the number of implants needed, and the restoration type.
- Implant placementTitanium implants are surgically placed, and we talk through your comfort options beforehand.
- HealingThe implants integrate with the jawbone over several months, and temporary teeth may be provided.
- Final restorationYour custom bridge or overdenture is permanently placed or fitted.
Before & After Surgery
No two plans are alike. How many implants you need, how long healing takes, and what treatment costs all depend on your own mouth. Where the jawbone has thinned significantly, bone grafting may come first to rebuild it before the implants go in.
In many cases, temporary teeth can be provided during the healing period, so you keep a working smile while you heal. Follow all post-surgical care instructions to support successful healing, and maintain excellent oral hygiene around your implant restorations.
See If Implants Are Right for You
Bone loss from years of denture wear rarely rules out implant treatment. Dr. Raffi evaluates your bone with imaging and maps out the approach that fits.

Planned in 3D at Both Offices
An implant plan starts with imaging. Both offices use the same two systems to measure your bone and capture your teeth before treatment begins.
In one scan, the KODAK 8100 builds a 3D picture of your teeth, jaw and supporting bone, so Dr. Raffi can see how much bone is available and plan where each implant goes.
A few minutes of digital scanning replaces putty trays and gives a detailed 3D model of your teeth and gums for planning your new teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most full-arch restorations are anchored by four to six implants per jaw. A modest number of well-placed implants can support an entire arch because the bridge or overdenture spreads chewing forces across all of them.
The exact figure depends on your bone density and the type of restoration you choose. Dr. Raffi settles on the optimal number after reviewing your CT imaging during the consultation.
In many cases, yes. Certain full-arch techniques allow a set of temporary teeth to be attached to the implants the same day they are placed, so you leave with a working smile rather than an empty arch.
Those temporaries carry you through the healing period. The permanent restoration is fitted once the implants have fully fused with the jawbone, which typically takes about three to six months.
Both are excellent ways to restore a full arch, and the better choice is personal. A fixed All-On-X bridge is attached in place and isn't removed at home, giving the closest feel to natural teeth. An implant-supported overdenture snaps on and off, which makes cleaning simple and often costs less.
Bone density, budget, and your own preferences all factor in. Dr. Raffi walks you through the trade-offs so you can decide with confidence.
Years of denture wear often lead to noticeable bone loss, but that rarely rules out implant treatment. Bone grafting can rebuild the jawbone so it can support implants, and in some situations the implants can be angled to make the most of the bone that remains.
Dr. Raffi evaluates what is left of your bone with imaging and maps out the approach that will give you a stable, lasting result.
From implant placement to the final restoration, the process usually takes four to eight months, most of which is healing time while the implants integrate with the bone. When bone grafting is part of the plan, the overall timeline may extend to around nine to twelve months.
Temporary teeth are usually provided during healing, so you keep a working smile while the implants integrate, and Dr. Raffi keeps you informed at every stage.
The cost of full mouth restoration varies quite a bit, depending on how many implants are placed, the type of restoration, and whether bone grafting is needed. The investment is meaningful, but implant-supported teeth are designed to last for decades with good care, which often makes them more economical than years of denture replacements and relines.
At our Chicago and Bourbonnais, IL offices, we provide a clear estimate during your consultation and offer flexible financing options to help you move forward.
Day-to-day care depends on which restoration you have, though both are straightforward:
- Fixed bridges: brush twice daily and clean around the implants with specialized floss or a water flosser
- Overdentures: remove them nightly to clean the denture and the attachments underneath
Regular dental checkups round out the routine, letting us confirm your implants and gums stay healthy so your restoration lasts for the long term.
